First Light in the Lowcountry

In the gentle hush of dawn, a snowy egret stands motionless in a quiet tidal creek, its slender form luminous against the silvery stillness of water and air. Spanish moss sways from ancient oaks above, filtering the pale morning light into soft veils that seem to hold every sound in reverent suspense. This, my first painting since arriving in the Lowcountry, is more than a landscape—it is a love letter to new beginnings, a peaceful moment that welcomed me with open arms and filled my heart with a sense of belonging as profound and serene as the egret’s patient vigil.
